Team roping is one of the few rodeo events that evolved
from cowboys working cattle. It is a timed event where two
cowboys and two horses rope the head and rear legs of a
steer. Time starts when the steer leaves the chute and
ends when both horses are facing each other with the
cowboys' ropes tight and dallied around the saddle horn.
Team roping's popularity has grown tremendously in the last
15 years with handicapping systems being used to even the
competition. Today there are tens of thousands of amateur
ropers competing for millions of dollars. Besides, doesn't
everyone want to be a cowboy, even a little bit?
